Mange is a skin disease caused by mites so small they can only be seen under a microscope. There are two different types of mange, caused by different kind of mites. One type of mite lives just under the surface of the skin, while the other type makes their home in the hair follicles. Recently, a reader inquired about the health of the soon to be added member of their family, a pug puppy. He is going to be their Christmas present, and from what I could tell, a highly anticipated one. The concern they felt over his health is due to the recent death of the puppy’s father, due to liver failure, so they asked me.
